I teach comic book workshops, where students learn the basics involved in creating comic book stories. I give the class instruction on character design, panel compositions, writing a rough draft and completing a completed comic book story of their own idea.
Students are encouraged to express themselves, and as everyone has different drawing skills, each student performs at their own level. My goal is to have the students freely express themselves through their work without worrying about competing with other artists.
I’ve been teaching comic book classes for 20 years and producing comics professionally for 25 years. My comic book EL MUERTO was turned into a film back in 2007 starring Wilmer Valderrama for which I served as Associate Producer. What I love about teaching is seeing the imaginations of students unleashed upon the paper they draw on. It’s always amazing to see how much creativity they put into their stories.
In my private time I read a lot (comics, non-fiction books), draw, watch films, collect toys and enjoy walks around the neighborhood.
