Michele McCole Moss
Once upon a time, Michele wrote for Chowder on Cartoon Network. It was her favorite job until she started teaching—something that began with her own three homeschooled children. She has spent the last 11 years developing her craft by attending workshops and conferences on kid lit with the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Having gotten a BFA from the USC School of Cinema for writing and a BA in English Literature from USC, Michele is a passionate writer and reader. These days she spends her time teaching her students about the three-act structure, character development, and world-building. She is currently shopping around her middle grade fantasy novel while writing another.
In her writing classes, Michele shares her own experiences receiving editorial letters and criticisms, pitch-meeting failures, and writing successes to encourage students’ bravery and interpret their inner worlds through words.
Michele believes students learn more when they are having fun. Whether she is coaching archery in the Lower Arroyo or coaxing a story out of a student with a mad lib, she wants her students to have a good time.
In her free time, Michele devours books, loves to paint and draw, knit, cook and bake (most often with chocolate), and practice her archery skills with a longbow.
